CPS Awarded $350,000 Kellogg Foundation Grant

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation recently awarded the Center for Partnership Studies (CPS) a $350,000 grant to further our Caring Economics Campaign goals.

CPS is thrilled that the W.K. Kellogg Foundation has joined with us in changing the public debates about economic success to invest in the real wealth of our nation: its human beings. With health, education, and poverty alleviation programs being slashed, our nation is undermining the most important asset for our economic future: the "high quality human capital" economists tell us is essential for success in our post-industrial knowledge/service economy.
~ Dr. Riane Eisler

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant will enable the Caring Economics Campaign to develop and promote economic rules, practices, policies, and measurements that give visibility and adequate value to the most essential human work -- the work of caring for people, starting in early childhood.

Caring Economics Campaign Goals

Inspired by Dr. Riane Eisler’s book, The Real Wealth of Nations, the goals of the Caring Economics Campaign are to:

  • Change the public discourse about economics to give more visibility and value to the critical work of caring for people and our natural environment
  • Develop inclusive and accurate empirical measures of economic health that enable government and business leaders to better meet the unprecedented challenges of our time
  • Empower leaders, grassroots organizations, and individuals to effectively build a caring and sustainable future.

Caring Economics Campaign Strategies

The Caring Economics Campaign will achieve its goals for major policy and cultural changes by:

  • developing and promoting new economic indicators focused on human capacity development, social equity, and care investments
  • building our already successful online leadership training with powerful and diverse grassroots leaders around the nation and the world
  • launching an online social media campaign and a new coalition website focused on caring economics.

Unlike other efforts to provide alternatives to GDP, the Caring Economics Campaign is building a grassroots movement in support of the development of more accurate and inclusive indicators, which CPS has called Social Wealth.

This generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation will enable CPS to forge new partnerships through the new Alliance for a Caring Economy that will galvanize millions in support of Social Wealth indicators in order to better make the case for investing in a more just and successful future for all Americans.

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, established in 1930, supports children, families and communities as they strengthen and create conditions that propel vulnerable children to achieve success as individuals and as contributors to the larger community and society. Grants are concentrated in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, and southern Africa.
