From Kim Otis: Happy Birthday Message, The Real Wealth of Nations, Caring Economics Campaign, A Special Offer for CPS Supporters
Happy Birthday, Riane!
I am writing to you on the happy occasion of the birthday of CPS' founder and President, Dr. Riane Eisler, to invite you to join me in showing you care about Riane, our nation, and our planet.
The Real Wealth of Nations
Like many of you, I have been inspired and motivated by Riane's work, starting with the germinal book, The Chalice and the Blade, published just over two decades ago. That work sustained me in my leadership with the women's movement over the years, and now has motivated me to direct CPS' Caring Economics Campaign based on Riane's transformational work, The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics.
According to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, "The Real Wealth of Nations gives us a template for the better world that we have been so urgently seeking." Using this "template," I have helped develop the Caring Economics Campaign, focused on public policies, grassroots education, and an internet campaign, a description of which you can download by clicking here.
On the occasion of Dr. Eisler's birthday and at this pivotal time of economic and environmental crisis, we must make a stand in support of caring for people and the planet. It is the wisest investment that we as individuals and as a nation can make.
Caring Economics Campaign
The Caring Economics Campaign is now poised to reach a much wider movement of both grassroots supporters and public policy leaders here in Washington, DC and beyond. The State of Society: Measuring Economic Success and Human Well-Being report by the Urban Institute that CPS commissioned was released in June, a new Conversation Leaders Training Program is about to launch, and we plan to work with a leading progressive, communications/media firm in the coming months.
A Special Offer for Our Supporters!
We are beginning to gain new funding for this work from select foundations, but we need the support of individuals like you to strengthen a broader appeal for this essential campaign at this critical time. I urge you and your friends and family members to make a financial contribution with the greatest level of support that you can make possible.
For those of you who can make a contribution of $100 or more, CPS will provide you with a signed copy of The Real Wealth of Nations or another of Dr. Eisler's book of your choice, as well as recognition of your gift in the CPS website and annual report.
Please join CPS, 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization, as a Supporter. Please contact me directly with any questions or comments on this request or the campaign, at kotisdc@verizon.net I look forward to your responses!
